Business Description

Mobility for a Living Planet ( MLP) will design and build cars. Innovations developed in this process will be patented. The 10 cars will be test marketed in three markets. Then a builder will be recruited.

To start this series of events Richard Shultz will assemble a management team. The MLP management team will recruit a group of 10 engineers and other staff, to be located in Austin Texas. MLP staff , with aid from consultants, contractors, and vendors, will design and build 10 cars. We will rent our office and shop space in a combined warehouse and office building in an industrial park. This will put the business in close proximity to support services such as a machine and welding shop.

MLP technical staff will include automotive, mechanical, electrical and software engineers. This staff will be supplemented by consultants from engineering schools or specialty engineering firms. Several university engineering programs, and specialty design firms have built hybrid and/or electric prototype cars. The talents of firms like AC Propulsion, AeroVironment, L3 and Solectria will be drawn upon to develop a plug-in hybrid drive train. MLP might be able to buy the complete drive train from a vendor.

The MLP engineering team will design a complete car in a computer aided design , solid modeling package such as Pro/Desktop, Pro/Engineer or Auto CAD Mechanical Desktop. MLP will also find vendors to produce welded metal frames and plastic body panels. Examples are specialty race car design and production firms, welding shops and vacuum forming shops. Specialty firms in Texas produce complete custom car bodies. Example of body panel makers : Automotive Design & Composites Ltd., based in San Antonio, TX

Then our engineering and technical team would assemble 10 cars. MLP would also design and build support equipment such as a track, charging devices, and AGV technology to avoid hard stacking.

MLP's team of engineers and programmers will file patents on the car and support hardware. The primary patent, 5,417,300 , which expires September 2013, covers the fold up ends and nesting body. Inventor Richard Shultz, owner of this patent, keeps an inventor’s journal with other patentable ideas on SRC design and support. Proposed follow on patents are for the nose lift, tail lift, suspension, stacking pins and guide way.

During test marketing the cars will be loaned to CSOs for evaluation by CSO’s and their customers. MLP staff and contractors will train users and supervise their test drives.

As detailed in the marketing plan section, MLP will demonstrate that there is a market for the SRC.
And as detailed in the section Royalty Revenue Forecast, royalties from vehicle sales will return the original investment many times over.
